Paper Quilts

Paper Quilts are Vicki’s latest artistic direction is to take elements of some of her preexisting work, and sew them together in new combinations. The finished design resembles quilted fabric, but is made entirely of paper and thread. The traditional “Crazy Quilt Pattern” from Pioneer Days, is made of scraps of leftover cloth. Vicki has applied this same idea to her paper scraps, creating a large square about a yard long. Cutting out the shape of the words Vicki appliqués this to an original monotype background. This theme of words, combines a pop art sensibility with Vicki’s aesthetic sense of lots of color and texture.
