Birds of Burque Mural Kick-off Party

For the mural, I’m combining forces with Andrew Fearnside Fine Art and Plot Duckies. Andrew is designing and painting the mural!
Plot Duckies is creating a QR code, stories, and website so visitors can scan the code and hear stories about and sounds of birds represented in the mural. More details about the party, coming soon!

Richard’s Corner

Congratulations to Joy Harjo for becoming the first Native American to be appointed Poet Laureate of the United States. Joy has close connections with Albuquerque, from a BA from UNM to being a professor at UNM to performing at the Outpost, a local jazz club, where she can wail on her sax. Many local poets have met Joy and worked with her.

Everybody has been really excited about Joy’s new position except for Mike Pence
who apparently thinks that joy and gay are synonymous.

Joy was appointed on Juneteenth, a concept that completely befuddles Pence’s boss.

My version of a Joy Harjo poem

When humility is lost, we become thirsty

our return from the edge of the moon
